Celine Dion and her previous asexual children’s clothing line Celinununu are currently raising eyebrows. The singer’s ad campaign for her brand drew comparisons to controversial luxury house Balenciaga, after it included clips of children wearing clothes that read “New Order.” Internet users have since expressed their concern.
In the promotional clip, Celine Dion, who was raised Catholic, can be seen running away from police authorities in a hospital after successfully changing the clothes of newborn babies in a hospital nursery. The babies could first be seen in their pink and blue outfits. However, it didn’t take long for them to magically change into outfits that said “new order.” The clothes also showed black stars.
Celine Dion collaborated with children’s fashion brand nununu in 2018. According to the latter’s official website, they aim to:
“freeing children from traditional boy/girl roles”
Speaking of the brand, the 50-year-old musician has said in the past:
“I’ve always loved nununu and what they represent. Partnering with them to encourage a dialogue of equality and possibility makes so much sense. The brand breaks stereotypes and inspires children to be free and find their own individuality through clothing.
Internet users compare Celine Dion’s Celinununu to Balenciaga
Internet users were alarmed to see the mother of three take part in an advertisement similar to that of Balenciaga.
Balenciaga has drawn immense criticism in recent weeks. Initially, the brand was criticized for including models of children holding bears dressed in bondage costumes. Later, their ad hiding a court document related to child pornography in their latest gift shop ad was also criticized. Several Internet users have criticized the brand for encouraging the exploitation of children.
Meanwhile, celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell, and Bell Hadid, among others who are brand ambassadors, have come under fire for not condemning the brand. They were also accused of supporting Balenciaga’s campaign which apparently encouraged child abuse.
With Celine Dion’s 2018 commercial showing children wearing New Order jumpsuits, netizens expressed similar concerns. For those unaware, the “New World Order” theory refers to powerful elites who aim to rule the world. According to conspiracy theorists, when the stars are knocked down, they symbolize the horns of the goat of black magic.
Netizens said the designs appeared to be demonic in nature. Including babies in outfits representing the rise of satanic culture has also frustrated netizens.
A priest condemns Celinununu
Monsignor John Esseff, a 65-year-old priest with more than 40 years of experience, was also unhappy with Celine Dion’s advertising campaign. In an interview with the National Catholic Register, Esseff expressed his distaste for “the genre” which he found “demonic”. He said:
“I don’t even know how many genders there must be now, but there are only two that God created…the devil is going after children by confusing genders. Say there’s no difference [in gender] is satanic.
As of this writing, Celine Dion has not responded to the backlash the collaboration is receiving. Meanwhile, she made headlines after sharing her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome.
