Valérien Ismaël is no longer the coach of Besiktas. The Istanbul club announced it on Wednesday. “The contract of the coach of our professional football team, Valérien Alexandre Ismaël, has been terminated by mutual agreement”Besiktas said in a statement.

The French pays for a series of bad results, including a defeat on Monday (1-2) against Hatayspor, 18th in the standings, after which “Ishmael resignation” came down from the stands. Besiktas are currently in 5th place, four points behind leaders Fenerbahçe, who have one game less.

According to several Turkish media, the favorite to succeed Ishmael is Senol Gunes, the former coach of Turkey.
