The number of job seekers stabilized in the third quarter of 2022 according to data published on Wednesday October 25. In mainland France, Pôle emploi thus lists 2,946,000 registered unemployed, a figure that is almost stable compared to the previous quarter (+ 1,400). These figures represent a clear decrease over one year, with 11.2% fewer applicants.
For those under 25, the number of job seekers increased by 1.5%, while it remained stable for those aged 25-49 and fell by 0.7% for those over 50. Among jobseekers with reduced activity, the number increased by 5.5% compared to the previous quarter in category B and decreased by 2.7% in category C.
More than five million job seekers
On average in the third quarter of 2022, the number of people registered with Pôle Emploi and required to seek employment amounted to 5,153,000 in metropolitan France. Among them, 2,206,900 exercise a reduced activity (category B and C).
Over one year, the fall in category A reached 10.9%, or 388,800 fewer people. Including reduced activity (categories B and C), the number of job seekers was also stable in the third quarter (and down 7.1% year on year) at 5.436 million.
