This is a record: for the first time, more than a million companies have been created in France in one year. According to figures from theInsee published this Friday, January 20, 1,072,000 creations were recorded in 2022, an increase of 2% compared to 2021 in raw data.
This record was reached despite a drop in job creations in December (-3.4%). Business creations have in fact fallen sharply in most sectors, with a drop in particular in the household services sector (-10%) and in manufacturing industry (-16.3%). On the other hand, business creations continued to increase in the accommodation and catering sector (+ 3.3%).
The transport and warehousing sector experienced a particularly marked decline over the year, with a 34.5% decrease in business creation year-on-year.
61% of businesses created by autoentrepreneurs
In the fourth quarter of 2022, the number of companies created increased sharply compared to the same period in 2021 (+ 8.5%). This increase is driven in particular by the creation of businesses under the microentrepreneur scheme (+11.2%) and companies (+6.1%). The business support sector particularly contributed to the increase in creations over this period, with more than 11,500 creations compared to the last quarter of 2021.
