A new exclusive for the Xbox Series X console | S was teased by Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty. According to Booty, Microsoft-owned developer inXile Entertainment is working on something special. For those who don’t know, inXile Entertainment is best known for the Wasteland and The Bard’s Tale series. it’s a team that has produced several critically acclaimed games, although the more niche genres they occupy have kept them from setting the world on fire commercially.
According to Booty, the team recently created a vertical slice for Xbox bosses, and “everyone was a bit blown away.” Adding more context to this, Booty notes that what’s particularly impressive is the quality of the game relative to the number of people working on it.
“We had all of our studio heads together and inXile showed off a vertical slice of their next game… And everyone was kind of blown away,” Booty said via Klobrille. “If there was a measure of how fresh what you create versus the number of people working on it, this studio has to win an award. »
Responding to a tweet with the quote above, inXile Entertainment shared a tongue-in-cheek response that unfortunately contains no clues about this mystery game.
“We’ll accept our prize in Visa gift cards or those cool holiday liquor sets where it comes with a bottle and some fancy glasses or whatever. The holidays are approaching and we are big re-gifters,” account manager inXile Entertainment said in response. »
For now, this is the metric that has been shared on the game with no indication of when the actual concrete details will be revealed. The fact that a vertical slice exists says very little about the state of development of the game, other than that it’s probably a little beyond pre-production.
