Synopsis
22nd century.
After a disaster that caused Vaults to be created in space, a long war broke out when three Vaults, Numbers 8, 12, and 13, created Adrian’s Republic and attacked Earth and other Vaults .
The Alliance against Adrian has spawned valiant warriors, like Captain Yu Jung-yi (Kim Hyun-joo) who, now in a coma, serves as the basis for the creation of the ultimate combat AI: Jung_e, a project from the Kronoid lab where she is Yu’s (Kang Soo-yeon) own daughter.
Critical
Film by South Korean Yeong Sang-ho, director of the interesting zombie film “Train To Busan”.
This time it takes us into a war scenario, with the war conflict set as the background to center a sci-fi experience situation with artificial intelligence and, the bulk of the story, a family drama .
All of this with notable special effects and cyberpunk touches set in a post-apocalyptic futuristic metropolis.
The film begins with the aesthetics of an action video game, goes through typical team tensions with different interests among its members and humor, and ends conditioned by the main plot connection with pain (physical-psychological) as a key: a maternal-filial relationship to which Sang-ho wants to endow with a strong emotional charge but remains on the surface.
It’s meant to be very complex within the limits of the possibilities of the human-robot relationship, but it ends up being quite simple, both in plot and in characters.
