Jimmy Butler still out, Ben Simmons still out and more updates on Brandon Ingram and Seth Curry

NBA All-Star forward Jimmy Butler missed the Miami Heat’s last game against the Sacramento Kings. He will continue to be sidelined when the team takes on the Indiana Pacers on the road.

Butler was a surprisingly late draw against the Kings. Miami informed the media before the game that “Jimmy Buckets” was suffering from hip pain. He will not be traveling with the team to continue treatment in South Florida.

UPDATE: Jimmy Butler (hip), Victor Oladipo (knee) and Nikola Jović (nasal bruise) will not be traveling with the team to Indiana for tomorrow night’s game against the Pacers.

In eight games this season, he was the Miami Heat’s leading scorer with 21.5 points and also leads the team in steals with 1.5. He added 6.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists in under 35.5 minutes.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra added Caleb Martin to the lineup in Butler’s absence. While Martin did a decent job, the Heat clearly missed Butler’s overall excellence. Miami relied on Tyler Herro’s three-point shot to win the game and improve to 4-5.

Meanwhile, former NBA All-Star Ben Simmons will also continue to sit out for the Brooklyn Nets. He played in the team’s first six games before being abruptly dropped from the roster against the Indiana Pacers due to an ailing knee.

Simmons was also not present in Brooklyn’s game against the Chicago Bulls at home, where they lost a sizable lead. The Aussie didn’t play to his former NBA All-Star standards and was heavily criticized for his lack of aggression.

Ben Simmons won’t travel with the Nets for the next two games due to “pain and swelling” in his knee:

The former NBA Rookie of the Year winner is averaging career low numbers in goals, rebounds, steals, field goal percentage and minutes played. Ben Simmons’ elite defense has disappeared since his return.

Simmons, who many had predicted would become the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year before his troubles began, didn’t have the expected impact on defense. The Nets are dead last in the league in defensive standings.

Brandon Ingram: Concussion; Injured since October 23, 2022

Brandon Ingram played just 11 minutes in the New Orleans Pelicans’ home opener overtime loss to the Utah Jazz. He showed concussion-like symptoms after colliding with teammate Naji Marshall.

Ingram has missed the Pelicans’ last four games, including a stinging overtime loss to NBA superstar LeBron James and the LA Lakers.

The former All-Star has a career-high 22.0 points in shooting. Ingram’s 57.9% shooting from the field, including 57.1% from outside the arc, is significantly better than he has ever averaged in his NBA career.

The Pelicans’ Brandon Ingram, who has undergone concussion protocol, is likely to return Friday against the Warriors.

The New Orleans Pelicans promoted him to probable from questionable. Brandon Ingram, however, has cleared concussion protocols and is expected to play against the Golden State Warriors.

The Pelicans, who unsurprisingly struggled without him, will be happy to welcome him back against the defending NBA champions.

Seth Curry; Left ankle; Injured since October 29, 2022

NBA injury report: Jimmy Butler still out, Ben Simmons still out and more updates on Brandon Ingram and Seth Curry
Seth Curry has missed all but one game for the Brooklyn Nets this season.

Seth Curry underwent offseason ankle surgery and didn’t make his NBA debut this season with the Brooklyn Nets until October 29. Curry came off the bench and missed all of his field goal attempts. He made six assists without committing a single turnover.

The Nets say Seth Curry (left ankle – injury management) is DOUBTFUL tomorrow night against the Wizards. Simmons is excluded.

Curry’s offense will be indispensable for the struggling Nets, especially without Kyrie Irving suspended. Brooklyn could use its 46.8 percent shooting from rainbow range last season. Even if Joe Harris and Patty Mills play, the Nets will need all the help they can get Kevin Durant.

The Brooklyn Nets have missed Curry’s services the past two games. He is listed as doubtful but could play in minutes if allowed to help the beleaguered team.
