Gwendoline returns with a catchy new anthem, “National Start-up”

After a first album, “Après, c’est gobelet!”, released last year, the Rennes duo is back with “National start-up”, a single like a hymn to re-motivate the troops… and it works.

Mickaël Olivette and Pierre Barret, falsely casual anti-heroes but truly inspired by the generation to which they belong in spite of themselves, return with National start-upa single as cynical as it is heady.

Against the background of new wave guitars, they list the injunctions to which the famous “start up nation”, which they intersperse with a wry punchline, hammered out in a heady way: “General orgy, awesome generation/Start-up and open space, yeah it’s super viral.”

For times of crisis

Presented as a “anthem to re-motivate the troops in this time of crisis”, the title is accompanied by a black and white clip alternating images of evenings and crossings of Paris on electric scooters or monowheels, which the group urges to ride in the text which captions the mini-film: “At the top of our lungs on our monowheels, AirPods in our ears, let’s go to the open space to save the world!

Just as ironic as his previous titles (Audi RTT, Holiday vouchers) had accustomed us to, Gwendoline continues to tell this generation against which the duo seems to harbor as much spite as tenderness.

After the Primeurs de Massy this week and the MIDI Festival which takes place from November 17 to 19, Gwendoline will be at Point Ephémère on December 15.
