Fans noticed that Pearce, 55, didn’t seem particularly thrilled that Blanchett, 53, won a gong Critics’ Choice Award for her lead role in Tár and then appeared to take aim at one of Blanchett’s photo shoots.
Pearce has since deleted the tweets that were interpreted as a dig at Blanchett and clarified on Twitter, “Fear not.” No beef at all. I was just being sarcastic. I love Miss CB. She’s amazing…..one of our best!’
Fans began sharing theories on Twitter that something had happened between the stars when Pearce responded to a social media user who shared a photo of Blanchett donning a harness while taking part in a shoot Photo.
Along with the images, the Twitter user wrote, “I know some of you are craving to see this photoshoot Cate Blanchett did. “Go get the rest.
Pearce simply replied to the message: “Ah no thank you. »

In a separate tweet, the former Neighbors star also commented on the Critics’ Choice Awards announcement that Blanchett had won the ceremony’s Best Actress gong, saying, “Fascinating choice…”
While the Memento star has since deleted his tweets and confirmed he has no hard feelings towards Blanchett, some netizens have pointed to comments he made about the Oscar-winning actor in 2008.
According to 9Honey, Pearce suggested that year that he was not the happiest with the amount of money Blanchett had received for his role as head of the Sydney Theater Company.

When asked if he would be willing to reprise his role in the Melbourne Theater Company play Poor Boy when it traveled up the coast to Sydney, Pearce hinted that he would only do so if his salary matched to that of Blanchett.
“I definitely would if I didn’t have other projects coming up, but it’s way too early to tell,” he said.
“If I’m not home, I might as well do something like a movie that pays a decent amount. I mean it would be hard to say, ‘Sorry, I don’t want to do your movie because I want to work for nothing in Sydney for another three months.’
He added: “Ms Blanchett is fantastic, absolutely, but I have to make a living. »
“Unless she wants to pay me what she earns. If she does, it will be the most the STC has ever paid an actor, I guarantee.
