Fenerbahçe Istanbul new Euroleague leader after victory over Tel Aviv

While Asvel beat Valencia with forceps, Fenerbahçe Istanbul took the lead in the Euroleague on Friday after the second day of the regular season. The Istanbul team clearly beat Maccabi Tel-Aviv (86-71), after escaping in the second quarter (46-32 at the break). The Israeli club then never threatened their opponent.

Berlin scares Milan

The “ener” was able to count on Marko Guduric (23 points), Johnathan Motley (15 pts), Nick Calathes (13) and Scottie Wilbekin (12) to win. Just like Istanbul, and Monaco on Thursday against Anadolu Efes, three other teams recorded a second victory on Friday: Alba Berlin, Olympiacos Piraeus and Vitoria.

The Berliners won in Milan (80-74 ap). Authors of a good start (26-12, 10th), they then led throughout the match. But the Milanese woke up in the last quarter and snatched an extension, which finally smiled on Berlin. The best scorer of the match was however in the Italian ranks, with Kevin Pangos (16 pts).

Mr. Fall and Lessort stand out

Olympiacos dominated Zalguiris Kaunas (90-80), racing ahead in the second half, after widening the gap shortly before the break. Sasha Vezenkov had 23 points and 14 rebounds for Piraeus. Moustapha Fall scored 16 points for the Greek club.

Finally Vitoria won against Partizan Belgrade (103-96 ap). After missing its start (14-23, 10th), the Spanish formation took out a 32-19, in the second quarter, to come back up to Partizan. The two teams then did not leave the score, until the extension. Markus Howard scored 33 points for Vitoria. For Belgrade, Matthias Lessort managed a double-double (19 points and 12 rebounds).
