Ezra Miller pleads not guilty to burglary

We really test the theory that no publicity is bad publicity.

Although the flash star Ezra Miller recently issued a public apology for a series of run-ins with the law, they still have an ongoing trial in Vermont where in August they were charged with felony burglary stemming from an incident in May 2022. Miller is accused of breaking into a home in Stamford, Vermont, where several liquor bottles went missing.

Today, Miller pleaded not guilty in the case, where they are charged with burglary of an occupied house and petty larceny. If Miller is convicted on both counts, they could go to prison for up to 26 years.

By Variety here are the details of the penalties Miller faces if found guilty.

The petty larceny charge says the stolen items had a total value of less than $900. The felony burglary charge has a maximum of 25 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1,000. The theft charge is for a maximum of one year and a similar fine of $1,000. Miller also agreed not to have contact with the owner or return to the residence.

Following the August charges, Miller released a public statement that read “having recently gone through a period of intense crisis, I now understand that I suffer from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to anyone I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the work necessary to return to a healthy, safe and productive stage of my life.

Through Miller’s many other controversies and legal troubles over the past year, Warner Bros. continued to stick firmly to its exit plans the flash, which stars Miller in multiple roles. Although press reports last summer claimed that shelving the film was not “out of the question”, the flash is still slated to hit theaters exclusively on June 23, 2023 for now.
